24 Hours of Summer Solstice Recap

The energy is still buzzing. Even a few days later, after the tents have been packed, the dust has been washed off and I've flown back home, we’re still running on good vibes from the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice. For those who were there, you know what I’m talking about. For those who weren’t, let me just say: it was epic.

This wasn't just another event for us at Full On Lighting; it was a introduction to a whole new community of riders. Being surrounded by 2,500 racers and their supporters—an entire city of people dedicated to the love of mountain biking—was an incredible experience. A massive shout-out to Adam and the whole crew at Chico Racing for putting on such a world-class event. The organization was seamless, and the atmosphere was electric from start to finish.

Putting the MB6 to the Ultimate Test

I had a chance to pre-ride the course at Albion Hills before the chaos began, and it was a blast. It also gave me a crucial look at what the racers would be facing, especially once the sun went down. The course was fast, flowy, but had plenty of tricky sections where vision is everything. It allowed me to give our rental riders practical advice on how to use the MB6 light to their advantage—when to punch up the brightness for the descents and how to conserve power on the climbs, or whether to let the light take care of things in Active Light Control mode.

Watching our lights head out onto the course lap after lap was a proud moment. But the real highlight? The conversations.

Our tent in the expo area became a hub. It was fantastic to connect with our new industry friends from Cannondale, Shimano, Bateman's Bikes, and Skratch Labs, all sharing in the stoke. But the best part was talking to the riders. We heard countless stories, shared laughs, and got to see firsthand the community that makes this sport so special.

From Broken Brackets to Blown Minds

One moment truly stood out. A rider came to us totally dejected. His Magicshine handlebar light bracket had busted after a crash and he was running at half speed with a low lumen, spotty headlight. It was the near the end of the night and he had another lap to go.

He wasn't one of our customers, but we offered to help. We removed both his old lights and mounted a single MB6 on his helmet. He was skeptical that one light could replace two. He rolled away into the darkness for his next lap. When he came back through the transition zone an hour later, he was a different person—absolutely beaming. He couldn’t believe the power and, more importantly, the beam pattern of our one light compared to his previous two. He said he could see everything, from the trail far ahead to the corners right in front of him.

That single moment—turning a rider's unlucky moment into his fastest lap—was what it's all about. That’s why we started this company.

37 Hours of Full On Fun

I have to give the biggest thank you to my childhood buddy, Aaron. He was my right-hand man for the entire weekend, helping me run the tent, answer questions, and—most importantly—swap out batteries for our rental riders all through the night. We were awake for 37 hours straight, fueled by coffee, energy drinks, and the incredible spirit of the racers. Seeing the relief on a rider’s face when you hand them a freshly charged battery at 3 a.m. is a special kind of reward.

The response we got to the MB6 was overwhelming. The feedback was amazing, and connecting with so many passionate people who "get it" was worth every second of lost sleep.

Out on course is was amazing to see the difference between the MB6 and everything else riders were using!

We are already counting down the days and hoping we’ll be back at Albion Hills next year. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, rented a light, bought a light, or just shared a story. You are the reason we do this.
