MB6 User's Manual

When you first open your MB6, these are the things you’ll find:

  • MB6 Light Head Unit
  • 74 Wh Battery
  • Quick Start Guide
  • USB-C Cable
  • Dual Port Fast Charger
  • 2x Adhesive Cable Guides
  • 2x Mounts (Curved and Flat)
  • Sticker

Charge your Battery

The MB6 Battery ships at ~25% state of charge. You’ll want to charge this up to full. Plug it into the fast charger with the USB-C cable. It will take about 1.5 hrs to charge to full.

The fast charger has two ports, C1 and C2. When using them individually, both have the same power output (45W). But if you wanted to charge two devices at the same time, port C1 provides more power:

  • C1: 30W (20V / 1.5A Max)
  • C2: 18W (12V / 1.5A Max)
  • Total Combined: 48W

Note: you can charge your MB6 Battery with any USB-C charger, but it may take more time to charge, depending on the power output. For best results, use the Full On Lighting dual port fast charger.

Mount your light

The MB6 works best as a helmet mounted light. Check out this helpful video about how to mount your light on your helmet.

Some key takeaways:

  • Choose the right mount: Your MB6 includes both flat and curved adhesive mounts. Test both against your specific helmet to see which shape provides the most flush, secure fit.
  • Balance is key: For the most comfortable feel, place the mount slightly forward but mostly centered on the top of your head. This keeps the light's weight perfectly balanced while you ride.
  • Route Your cables: Once your light is positioned, figure out the best path for your cable. Use the included adhesive cable guides (most riders use 1 or 2) to clip the cable flat against your helmet so it doesn't stick out or snag.
  • Clean before you mount: Make sure the surface of your helmet is clean before applying the mounts or cable guides. Warm soapy water, and a dry cloth is often sufficient, but to really get a good bond, wipe it with a bit of isopropyl alcohol after cleaning.
  • Stash the battery: The cable is intentionally designed to be long enough for any storage preference. You can drop the battery into a hydration pack (to keep it centered between your shoulder blades), a backpack, a jersey pocket, or a fanny pack.

Aim your light

Most people aim the light too low, creating a large hotspot of light on the ground.

To correctly aim your MB6, mount the light on your helmet, put it on and look straight ahead. Tilt the MB6 upwards until the central hotspot fades from the ground, and the light pattern is perfectly uniform.

Bike Mounting

If you’d prefer to mount the light directly to your frame instead of your helmet, the MB6 Bike Mount Kit gives you a clean cockpit without cluttering your handlebars. Here’s a short video to go over how to use it.

Some key takeaways:

  • Swap a headset spacer: The included spacer mount directly replaces a standard headset spacer on modern trail and enduro bikes. It positions your light dead-center without clamping onto carbon handlebars or adding bulky brackets.
  • Set the right tension: Tighten the mounting bolt just enough so you can adjust the tilt up or down by hand, but tight enough that it won't rattle loose on rough trails.
  • Secure the battery: Use the silicone strap to mount the battery to your top tube (placing it closer to the seat tube keeps it well out of the way). The battery’s rubber overmold prevents frame scratches and stops it from sliding around.
  • Keep cables tidy: Use the short USB-C cable included in the kit so you don't have excess wire snagging on trail brush. Direct the cable along your frame using the adhesive clips.
(Pro-tip: Clean your frame with a splash of isopropyl alcohol before sticking the clips down for maximum hold)
  • Flexible ecosystem: The mount uses a standard action camera connection. If the spacer mount doesn't fit your specific setup, it easily adapts to any aftermarket action camera mount.

Using your MB6

Beams

The MB6 features two independently controlled beams. Certain modes illuminate only one beam.

Button

  • Short Press: Power On / Cycle through the four light modes.
  • Long Press (1s): Power off.

Modes

  • Manual Hangout: 275 Lumens, Red Indicator LED.
Using only the peripheral beam, it's great for getting ready in the parking lot, mid ride breaks chatting with friends, or a post ride brew and packing up.
  • Manual Low: 1500 Lumens, Orange Indicator LED. All-night endurance rides.
Great for slower climbs.  This will reduce power consumption slightly compared to ALC for shorter climbs and can be good for things other than riding.
  • Manual High: 3800 Lumens, Yellow Indicator LED. Consistent high-power output.
Great mode for most riding at moderate speeds, although ALC can provide much higher light output for high speed.
  • Active Light Control: 1500 - 6000+ Lumens, Green Indicator LED.
Set it and forget it. Max performance.

Battery

Button

  • Single Press: View State of Charge when not plugged in, or wake from sleep mode.
  • Double Press: Enable sleep mode. Useful for preventing battery drain when connected to the MB6.

Screen

  • State of Charge Display: Displays remaining battery percentage.
  • PD Indicator: Illuminates when Power Delivery (greater than 5V) is enabled, such as when connected to the MB6, a Fast Charger, or a PD enabled device.

Output

  • Protocol: USB-C Power Delivery (USB-PD).
  • Max output power: 65W (20V / 3.25A Max).
  • CompatibilityPower's the MB6 light and other USB-C devices.

Capacity: 74Wh

  • MB6 Runtime: 2–22 hours, depending on the selected mode.
  • Mobile Charging: Approximately five full smartphone charges.
  • Laptop Power: 2–6 hours for typical usage.

Tips for during your ride

  • Keep both ends of your cable clean and dry when plugging them into the battery and the MB6 head unit.
  • ALC is great for managing your power throughout your ride, but for extending your runtime further, drop the light down to manual low for long slow climbs.

After your ride

Some handy tips for taking care of your MB6 system after you’ve done your ride.

  • For long term storage of your battery (e.g. between seasons), it’s best to leave it not plugged into anything, at roughly 30% - 40% state of charge. Keep it at room temperature, and in a dry place.
  • If you keep your battery plug into your light after your ride, double tap the battery button to put it to sleep. This will keep the battery from draining while you’re not riding.
